The SEFA Case Club is a student-led initiative that empowers ambitious students interested in strategy, consulting, and business problem-solving. Through hands-on case-based learning, members sharpen their analytical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
At the core of the club is the Case Solver Committee, a dedicated team of students who undergo weekly trainings led by industry professionals, professors, and experienced instructors. These sessions prepare them to tackle real-world business challenges using structured and strategic approaches.
Case Solvers members also represent the University of Amsterdam and Sefa at prestigious international case competitions in cities such as Hong Kong, Dublin, and Washington D.C., competing against top universities worldwide.
In addition, SEFA Case Club proudly organizes the annual Amsterdam Case Competition, attracting elite student teams from across the globe.
The overall goal is to develop students’ problem-solving abilities and business acumen, equipping them with the skills and experience needed to excel in high-level competitions and future careers.
Committee Structure
We offer 1–2 training sessions each week, designed to build practical skills and confidence in real-world problem solving. Each month, members will also take part in a special training session led by an industry professional, company representative, or professor, offering unique insights and networking opportunities. Regular trainings begin with a brief introduction to the topic, followed by hands-on group practice to apply what was learned. Activities may include practice consulting cases, feedback rounds, and mock competitions. For mock competitions, participants are divided into teams and present their solutions in front of a jury or classmates, receiving valuable feedback to refine their approach. These sessions aim to blend theory with practice and prepare members for actual consulting challenges.
Committee Experience
By being a Case Solver, students gain valuable hands-on experience by working on real business challenges through competitions, often in collaboration with actual companies. These experiences not only enhance their problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills, but also give them a practical edge beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to travel to international universities with expenses covered, representing their teams in global competitions. Along the way, they become part of a motivated and supportive community, build friendships, and network with top firms like Deloitte, EY, and many others. Being a Case Solver is more than just training—it’s a launchpad for personal and professional growth.
