Room for Discussion: Gunnar Wiegand

The Asia-Pacific is currently the world’s most rapidly growing region. China is set to take the position of the US as the world’s largest economy, and other nations in the region are emerging as influential economic powers, such as Vietnam. The EU has renewed its approach in the region to seize the opportunities and face the challenges emerging. With new trade deals, infrastructure investments as well as value commitments, the EU further wishes to strengthen its partnerships and position in the region. Does the EU wish to compete with China in the region? What are the EU’s security goals in the region after the AUKUS failure? Join us on May 25th, when we have the opportunity to discuss all of the above (and much more) with Mr. Gunnar Wiegand, Director of Asia and Pacific for the EEAS.
