Dear Sefasts,
What a month! We’re only one period into the academic year, and we’ve already made some amazing memories. From the onboarding of our new committee members to a great edition of Skillsweek and from our Women+ Welcome Dinner to a legendary Men’s and Ladies Night, October was one for the books!
We kicked off the month with Skillsweek, featuring workshops hosted by companies such as Student Consultant, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and StudiJob. Furthermore, our TEDxUniversiteitofAmsterdam Pitch Night featured several intellectually stimulating TED talks about Wired Minds: connections in a world of digital stimuli. The winner will present at our TEDxUniversiteitofAmsterdam main event on November 13th.
We also held our first General Meeting. It was lovely to see such a fantastic turnout from our core community while we discharged the 103rd board. Another excellent core memory was the Cobo (constitution drink), where we invited our brother and sister associations to celebrate our installation. Thank you to our security team, who helped keep us safe!
We’ve had quite the sporty month as well! The sports committee started its year with a pool event for some friendly competition. Moreover, our board and alumni ran for Ubuntu Mundo during the Amsterdam Marathon! And because one run wasn’t enough, the very first edition of the Faculty Run Club ended its debut with well-earned drinks at Krater.
The Women+ Welcome Dinner kicked off our women+ community with pizzas, spritzes and a side of inspiration. Moreover, our first Monthly Drink of the year, the White Party, was a great success with lots of dances, drinks and delight. The Living Dutch Committee took us for a fun-filled Canal Cruise, complete with classic Dutch games and icebreakers.
After a short breather for endterms and ADE, we came back full force. Our men and ladies went their separate ways for a legendary night filled with traditions. Last but not least, the last weekend of the month marked Active Members HalloWeekend! Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend, but from what I’ve heard, you guys made Friesland unsafe with amazing costumes!
Here’s to more memories, more Sefa spirit, and higher heights as we head into the next month: Borrelmaand!
