Blog post #14: From the Sea to the Mountain Peak!

January of Journeys!

Dear Sefasts,

Welcome back! We had quite an eventful start to the year with Amsterdam turning into a winter wonderland, cancelling some of our flights back, and giving us a little extra precious time with our families before diving back into the swing of things. We had our February recruitment period for a variety of committees. If you’re interested in staying active, ACD applications are still open, so make sure to send your application before February 15th!

Speaking of adventures, our month began with the legendary trip to Madrid with our lovely AGAN – a total caos organizado. It was a whirlwind of cheap sangrias and hopping from club to club. Our treasurer Thierry celebrated his 22nd birthday; we wish him a year full of balanced budgets and alcohol content strictly under 15%.

Amsterdam Career Days (ACD) had its main partner reveal drinks at Neni, where we got to connect with representatives from BDO, KPMG, ABN AMRO, and Olyx. We are so excited to host them in March for a week-long career event that will be the largest one in the Netherlands! The following day, we kept the momentum going with our New Year’s Dinner at Humphreys, filled with heartfelt speeches and plenty of wine. Later that night, we made history at Chupitos by launching the official Sefa shot, rocking the prettiest orange and blue colors.

Naturally, the Board had to fight off quite a hangover to make our flight to the Board Trip to Tenerife the next morning, but it was worth it. We enjoyed the sunny beaches, cheap drinks, and the tropical scenery. Returning to Amsterdam, we jumped straight into the Winter Sports drinks at De Krater, which was the perfect way to bond with the crew we will be skiing with next week!

The Master Career Club hosted their pub quiz at Cafe Lust!, followed immediately by their three-day Master Career Kickoff Days. They made every day count with networking experiences with golf simulators, beer tasting, and dinners, connecting students with top companies like EY, ABInBev, Young Financials, De Jong & Laan, and VodafoneZiggo. Our Investment Club held a Valuation Open Session led by our own members to teach the ropes of valuation. We also took a moment to reconnect with our roots at the Alumni drink, spending some quality time catching up with previous Sefa members we have missed dearly.

Finally, we ended the month on a high note, or rather, a high altitude. We braced ourselves for an exciting 14-hour bus ride to Les Deux Alpes for winter sports with 65 of our active members. It was a long drive, but we absolutely loved hitting the slopes with Sefa!

See you soon!
