Sefa Skillsweek

The Sefa Skillsweek is a flagship event aimed at helping students at the University of Amsterdam develop their Professional, Academic, and Personal skills through expertly curated workshops and training sessions. From September 30th to October 4th, 2024, we organized the 11th edition of Skillsweek, which was a great success! Over five days, students participated in eight diverse workshops designed to enhance their skillsets for future success.

Workshops ranged from “Interview Case Preparation” to “What is GMAT and How to Apply,” offering practical insights for career readiness and academic growth. Students also learned how to stand out during job applications, improve study efficiency, and expand their offline and online networks. These sessions aligned with Sefa’s mission to support personal and professional development beyond academics.

The committee spent six months planning the event, not only delivering valuable experiences for participants but also growing as a team and learning new skills themselves. This year’s Skillsweek attracted over 300 students, proving its value as a cornerstone event for skill-building at the UvA.

Missed this year’s Skillsweek? No worries! Students will have the chance to join next year’s edition, which promises even more opportunities for growth. Interested in organizing this impactful event? The new committee will be formed in February 2025, and we guarantee it will be an unforgettable and rewarding experience!

What can I learn as a committee member

Within Sefa Skillsweek you will work in a team of 5 students from the UvA. Becoming a member of this committee will help you with various skills that benefit not only during the study life but also professional life. Learning how to meet deadlines, how to effectively communicate with the team, information delivery, negotiation skills and accuracy etc. will equip you to stand out and also give you an idea of what working in a professional business environment looks like. By joining the Sefa Skillsweek committee you will discover your own hidden strengths and with your fellow team members, you will find yourself progressing every working day.

”From 30th September to 4th of October , we organised the 11th edition of the Sefa Skillsweek. Organising the events for Skillsweek was to provide the best workshops possible given the time and resources for students at University of Amsterdam. Me and my team members found ourselves growing as well, learning new various skill sets and how to work as a team. The event itself was also very successful, we are proud to present not only limited to academic but also covering any other aspects that also aligns with Sefa’s goal.
