About

The Career Week is a five day campus recruitment event aimed at matching students of the Faculty of Economics and Business from the UvA with some of the top companies in their field. Hosted by study association Sefa, we welcome all 6000 Sefa members and 5852 students of the faculty for a unique introduction into their future careers. Career Week includes days revolving around finance, economics, business, and consultancy respectively. This year we introduce a new day, Digital Day. A day about digital businesses such as E-commerce, online platforms and all different aspects of using data analytics. During and at the end of each day, students will have the opportunity to further meet recruiters through diverse and unique activities such as cases, presentations, high wines, lunches, dinners, and much more. Through this unique event, we strive to connect UvA students with recruiters in their field of choice, making the first strides in the direction of their future career with this personal interaction experience.

Career Week 2018 will take place from the 26th of November till the 30th of November.

Your future, Your event. Career Week.

Testimonials

“From the 27th of November until the 1st of December we organized the second edition of the Sefa Career Week. In that week we had 27 companies, 43 activities and more than 300 students, so we can proudly say that it was a huge success!  The week was the perfect opportunity for all students from the faculty of Economics & Business to meet companies, seek opportunities for internships and even meet their future employer, this could be done through: presentations, cases, interviews, dinners, high-wines, lunches and boat tours. A couple of the companies coming were: Samsung, ING, Albert Heijn and Unilever. As the committee you start preparing for the week almost 10 months earlier. The preparation period is quite long and can be intense, as there will be a lot of unexpected events. In the end however it is all worth it, because you will not only learn a lot, but you will organize a week to remember!”

” Dear students,

Last year I was the treasurer and secretary of The Career Week committee. Some of you will know The Career Week, that means our great promotion succeeded, and others will not. The Career Week is meant to be a bridge between students and companies. It must help you to find out what you want to do or do not want to do in the future. I never went to cases or interviews before I organized the Career Week, because I did not know what those companies expected from me and that scared me. Now I know that that fear was unnecessary and it was even fun. Although I organized the Career Week, I went to a few activities. It made me realize that I was prejudged about some B companies and that after cases of them my vision of those unknown companies was totally changed. That was also the case with the company where I did an internship, Career Openers. At the last network drink of the Career Week I got in contact with Bart. He asked if I wanted to start my own company and, of course, I answered yes. In January I started writing a business plan for a new service for them. Unfortunately, the plan has not been practiced, but I have an experience on the work floor. Never thought that the recruiting world was interesting, but that is why you should join the Career Week to find out about your own interests. Before you know it, you will have an internship and will learn more about the business world than you can do from the books. Sign up and find out yourself!”
